Barrett Cook

Art Teacher

Barrett Crosby Cook is a mother, artist, and educator. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from a liberal arts college, where she concentrated on multidisciplinary, research-based art-making and creative writing. Not long after graduation, she returned to her alma mater as a Postgraduate Teaching Intern in the Art Department.

After several years devoted to her artistic practice, Barrett returned to Springfield and began working for a program managed by the Springfield Art Museum called Placeworks. With Placeworks, artists were hired to facilitate art projects in rural schools, lead museum tours, and guide students on nature-based art walks at the Watershed Center. After starting a family with her husband, Brandon, she began teaching art and nature journaling with two local homeschool co-ops.

Today, Barrett spends most of her time mothering and homeschooling their three children – ages six, four, and three months. In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, dabbling in various culinary pursuits, and painting.
